A year ago, the whole world came to a halt when the coronavirus spread across the globe like a wildfire. And all throughout, experts have not stopped in attempting to find a solution to slow down its spread. This year, medical experts have fortunately formulated vaccines that can weaken the effect of the virus. Along with this, tech experts have also played their part.
Applications, services, and systems that could help in contact tracing have been developed. All of these technological advances have been helpful in quickly identifying and notifying people who have come close in contact with a carrier. And even after the avalanche of all these improvements, experts have continued to roll as they now introduce the newest app– the Vaccine Passport.
The NHS app
The NHS app is an application supported by the UK’s National Health Service, introducing the vaccine passport. This app is where citizens from England will have access to their vaccine credentials digitally.
Upon logging in, you will have a view of the summary of your medical records. Through this app, you can also make appointments and request repeat prescriptions. Previously, you had to request your GP to upload your complete medical history, including your vaccination details. But after further developments, a new section containing your covid vaccine status information has been added. You can also download a PDF copy or request it to be sent to you through email.
Who can use the app?
To use the app, you have to be registered with a GP in England, and you must be 13 years old and above. However, children cannot use the app to display their status as they are currently not being vaccinated.
You can efficiently run the app through your smartphone or tablet. And once you already received your second dose of vaccine, you may request a paper version of your vaccine status by calling 119.
Where can I use my vaccine passport?
The government of England is regulating new ways to run large-scale events. This includes concerts, nightclubs, and sporting fixtures. Apart from finding out more ways to implement social distancing, ventilation, and mass testing, they are also planning to use the vaccination passports to ensure public safety.
But the essential use of vaccine passports is ensuring that you are fit to fly. At the moment, there are still a lot of countries that do not allow proof of vaccination as an alternative to adhering to safety protocols such as covid tests and quarantining, but this could still help you in proving that you are good to travel.
In the future, when the app further develops, information such as covid test results will be shown. But in the meantime, you can book a test with a reputable company such as Harley Medical International that can assist you with your covid tests stress-free.
All you have to do is book a test online, find the closest clinic to you, select the timeframe when you will need the test results, and wait for the email containing the booking address. Once confirmed, you may then proceed to go to the clinic where you will be assisted and wait for the email they will send.
You can either choose between a PCR or Antigen Test. This service is available in London and with many fit to fly covid test centres across the UK. But if you are in a rush, you can avail the same-day PCR test they have in Manchester.
