Important Information
Iron deficiency is particularly common among certain groups, such as women with heavy periods or those who are pregnant, children, and vegetarians. However, it often goes unnoticed, despite its significant impact on overall health. Iron plays a vital role in the production of hemoglobin, the component of red blood cells responsible for carrying oxygen throughout the body. If your iron intake is insufficient, your body cannot produce enough hemoglobin, leading to the development of iron deficiency anemia.
Mild iron deficiency is a widespread issue and is typically treatable without complications. However, if left unaddressed, it can progress to a more severe form of anemia, leading to serious health concerns, including:
Heart failure
Complications during pregnancy
Delayed growth and development in children
Reading the results
Wait for the colored line(s) to appear and read the results at 5 minutes. Do not interpret the result after 10 minutes.
Normal Result: Two lines appear—both the T (test) line and C (control) line. This indicates that the ferritin concentration in your blood is within the normal range, and there is no evidence of an iron deficiency.
Abnormal Result: Only the C (control) line appears. This suggests that the ferritin concentration in your blood is too low, which may indicate an iron deficiency. We recommend consulting a healthcare provider for further evaluation.
Invalid Result: If the control line (C) fails to appear, the test is invalid. This may be due to insufficient specimen volume or incorrect test procedures. Review the instructions carefully and repeat the test with a new kit. If the issue persists, discontinue use and contact your local distributor for assistance.
Procedure
1. Thoroughly wash your hands with soap and rinse with clean, warm water.
2. Allow the pouch to reach room temperature before opening. Carefully open the foil pouch and remove the test cassette.
3. Gently remove and dispose of the lancet cap.
4. Use the provided alcohol pad to clean the fingertip of your middle or ring finger, which will be used for the puncture.
5. Press the orange end of the lancet firmly against your fingertip. The lancet’s tip will retract automatically after use for safety.
6. Hold your hand with the fingertip pointing downward and gently massage the end of your finger to produce a blood drop.
7. Without squeezing the dropper, position it near the blood drop. The blood will migrate into the dropper up to the indicated line. Avoid air bubbles. If the blood does not reach the line, massage your finger again as needed.
8. Transfer the collected blood into the sample well of the cassette by gently squeezing the dropper bulb.
9. Wait for the blood to fully enter the sample well, then unscrew the cap of the buffer bottle and add one drop of buffer solution into the sample well.
10. Wait for the colored line(s) to appear. Read the results at 5 minutes. Do not interpret the results after 10 minutes.
